James Joyce was a renowned Irish novelist, poet, and literary critic. His influence can be seen in the work of many other writers, including Samuel Beckett and Virginia Woolf. Joyce attended the Jesuit Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare and later the Christian Brothers–run O'Connell School. His writing was heavily influenced by his contemporaries, including Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot. Joyce's writing has been translated into numerous languages, including French and Spanish, and has inspired countless adaptations, including theatrical productions and film adaptations.
